After the Manny Pacquiao-David Diaz bout was finished, Top Rank promotional head, Bob Arum, revealed to reporters that he is hoping to put together a possible showdown between Manny Pacquiao and undefeated power-puncher Edwin Valero, by November in Macau.
Valero (24-0, 24KOs), the WBA super featherweight champion, has knocked out every opponent to step in the ring with him. Valero holds the record for 18 straight first round knockouts. Only six of his opponents were able to last past the first round.
I’ve seen Edwin Valero fight, I think this would be a brawl because both got speed but Valero needs to train for his defense. He might have heavy hands of stones for knocking out 18 guys in the first round and an undefeated record for fighting “cab drivers” but he has no skills or style to beat The Pacman. Manny has a waaayyyy better resume' than Valero. Of course anything is possible in boxing, Pacman might take him lightly and because of it Valero might catch him with a lucky heavy punch that might knockout Manny...then again Manny might recover from it and beat the crap out of Valero.
Valero is one of the most OVERRATED boxers, the reason he's been undefeated is simply because he's been pitted against really weak & unrated boxers. Does any name of the fighters he's faced ring a bell? The answer is a big NO. Simply because they're all UNKNOWN. Even a fading Barrera would breeze through him. Much more with a Marquez or Pacquiao. Anyway, Valero is still young, if I was him, just train harder and never lose hope after the Pacman kicks your ass in November.
