Peace & Unity Rally in Sultan Kudarat

I have read the Memorandum of our Provincial Governor Datu Suharto T. Mangudadatu, Al Haj thru Provincial Administrator Manuel Lastimoso that tomorrow August 7, 2008 at 8:00am there will be a PEACE and UNITY RALLY to be held infront of the Provincial Capitol, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat opposing the inclusion of some of the province's towns and barangays in the expanded Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Congressman Sultan Pax S. Mangudadatu, Al Haj Congressman Arnulfo Go, Governor Suharto Mangudadatu, and Vice Governor Donato Ligo, will led the rally, to continue question the inclusion of additional barangays in the Bangsamoro Juridical Entity (BJE) as part of the government's draft agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on ancestral domain.
Participants also includes Local Officials, Students, Religious Sect (Muslim & Christians) and NGO’s, the aim of the rally is to call the attention on the national government to consult the people of Sultan Kudarat before entering into the agreement, whose signing was halted by a temporary restraining order issued by the Supreme Court on Monday.
How can the government panel agree to such a proposal? It’s like selling this region to the MILF. Even air, mineral resources, and waters in the BJE would be managed by the MILF, I have nothing against personal with the MILF, may mga kaibigan at kamag-anak nga tayo sa MILF pero when it comes to govern our region, I think its not yet acceptable. Look at the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) maganda ba ang kinalabasan? Did you see something different in ARMM in terms of development? OO, meron siguro, you see the Beverly Hills in Shariff Aguak? At ang maraming munisipyo na nagsulputan. The people of the province had already decided in 2001 plebiscite, where they unilaterally opposed to the inclusion of the province in the ARMM.
This rally tomorrow was not meant to promote conflict between Christians and Muslims. This is not a fight between the Muslims and the Christians. But we, Christian man o Muslim na d2 na napanganak at naninirahan sa Mindanao, are doing is just to defend what is right and due us. We can’t allow the government to ink an agreement, which will later cause animosities between the Muslims and the Christians. We stay calm but continue the fight in a peaceful way.
We did not know that we were included in the expanded ARMM. They talked and decided about it without us knowing it. The GRP panel should have been transparent. We’re saying YES to PEACE but we’re saying no to the inclusion of Sultan Kudarat in the expanded ARMM. Consult us first, then MoA later.
